Buccal Facial Massage
What is Buccal Facial Therapy?
Buccal Facial Therapy is a massage technique performed both intra-orally (inside the mouth) and extra-orally (outside the mouth and on the face). This approach stimulates lymphatic drainage, reduces puffiness, flushes out toxins, and promotes circulation. It is particularly effective in alleviating tension in facial muscles, especially around the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). By accessing deeper layers of muscle tissues and ligaments, this therapy provides profound benefits.
Tight facial muscles can restrict healthy blood flow, which decreases the supply of nutrients and oxygen essential for muscle support. With consistent treatments, Buccal Facial Therapy can restore the natural posture of the face, relax facial muscles, enhance facial tone, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, this massage improves microcirculation, stimulates collagen and elastin production, and helps reduce inflammation, puffiness, and swelling.
What Does It Treat?
This therapy addresses various concerns, including:
- Congestion and stagnation around the sinuses
- Muscle tension in and around the mouth
- Stress symptoms
- Headaches and TMJ discomfort
It also provides anti-aging benefits, such as:
- Reducing and softening fine lines and wrinkles
- Enhancing blood circulation and collagen production
- Sculpting and toning the facial contour and jawline
What to Expect During Your Treatment:
Preparation: Facial oil (different from regular massage oil) will be applied, so your face and hair may be covered in oil. It is recommended to arrive with a bare face (no makeup), though cleansing can be provided during the session.
Duration: Each session lasts 60 minutes, focusing on the upper back, neck, shoulders, and face (both internally and externally).
Techniques: The facial massage incorporates gentle, soothing techniques to encourage lymphatic drainage and improve blood flow. Gloves will be worn and changed when performing intra-oral work.
Tools: Additional tools may be used to enhance the treatment, including:
- Gua Sha: For lymphatic drainage and depuffing
- Facial Cups: To promote circulation and sculpting
